audio rendering mystery

topic posted Fri, April 11, 2008 - 11:29 AM by  Andrew
trying to render audio for some clips. Hit command R and and computer begins to render. Goes to 99% rendered than quits. Clips won't render again even though audio is all red.

more info?

yep, tried that. What I ended up doing was converting the clips from .dv to .mov with mpegstreamclip. Some of the .dv clips rendered but then the computer would lose track of the audio render files. Maybe it was an issue with .dv files. who knows?

But my 'puter has been doing weird stuff lately. Today I tried to import a .mov clip - General error- popped up Who knows again?

Try mixing down the audio. It's under the render menu - but it fixes a WORLD of problems with audio - especially in projects that have a lot of tracks.

Under the render menu there's a command to Mix down the audio(FCP 6) - in older versions it's in a different menu - you may have to look for it - but what it does, so I understand - is mix all the audio render files down into one. It has a really magic way of "solving" audio problems. It's really useful when you have a lot of audio tracks stacked up.
