With the charger connected, the pooter runs fine, but the battery will not charge.
I have two chargers and both have the same problem, so it's the pooter.
The display in the top right window says "Calculating".
Any suggestions?

Fri, February 1, 2008 - 8:50 PMAnd ..... that cute little light only shows a very slight green, not a bright orange.
It's like the lap top doesn't want a charge ..... but it does.

Fri, February 1, 2008 - 10:15 PMSounds like a power adapter problem, or a screwy battery. Call applecare and see what they have to say.

Re: Odd Mac Book Pro charging problem.
Sat, February 2, 2008 - 9:40 AMIt's probably the battery. There's apparently a chip in the battery that tells the computer what to think about the battery while it's charging. I've been told that after a while that chip goes bad. I had the same problem with my iBook a while ago and it was really frustrating. Putting a new battery in fixed it.

Re: Odd Mac Book Pro charging problem.
Sat, February 9, 2008 - 12:05 PMMake sure you have all software and battery updates applied. Reset the SMC. Check the system profiler for the cycle count on the battery. Try the batter in a friend's MacBook Pro.
If the battery is determined bad, your cycle count is low and your still under warranty, you have a good chance at getting a new battery. -

Sat, February 9, 2008 - 1:37 PMApple and I have determined that it is a logic board problem ...... 5 days before the warranty ended.
