Not salivating... I've only read that one link you posted, but it's missing lots-o-detail....

    - why only one ring? Is it Focus? Exposure? Zoom?
    - how will it perform in low light?
    - what kind of batter and battery life?
    - est. street price?
    ... etc....

here are some more details for the manufacturer:

One BN-VF823U Data Battery (7.2V, 2190mAh) is provided for recording time over 2 hours

Suggested list price* for this model (U.S. Dollars): $3,995.00

It does look pretty cool. The big thing for me isn't so much the native FCP format - rewrapping files is a duck walk after digitizing tape - but the cheap storage - which, of course, raises reliability issues - but if they can get the prices of the cards down that's going to be huge.

oh yes.. totally love the idea of instant-edit or quick copy via the storage medium...

but those additional posted specs. don't really add anything to me... manual or auto focus.. how?! manual zoom or rocker button.. OK.. well... um.. there's only one RING on the front of the cam? So which is it?

For $4K, it looks like it's missing some fundamental usability features...
