on the subject of still images...

I'm dealing with some stills that are getting an awful lot of warbly motion wherever there are patterns. It seems excessive with this latest piece, and I'm not sure if there is some filter I can use or basic trick to clean that up a little. Anyone have any suggestions?

if you are animating the still, zooming in or panning (fake Ken Burns effect type), try check or uncheck "motion blur" under Motion of the viewer.
Or may be size of the still is too big. You can resize the still in photoshop to match the resolution of the project. For instance, 720x480 in 72dpi if you are working on DV quality.
